After over fifteen years spent working in fashion, Phelps launched a career as a fine artist. Her artwork is deeply influenced by her extensive experience in the fashion industry and her Southern roots. She began creating art as a child alongside her late mother, and she credits the birth of her sons as the inspiration for her renewed creativity and career rebirth.

Today, Phelps’ work focuses on the bond of parent and child and preserving the magic of childhood. She primarily works in oils, charcoals, and pastels, with almost all of her pieces being commissioned, alongside a few limited studio releases.

Phelps currently lives and works in Gramercy, Manhattan, New York City. Her artwork can be viewed, and sittings can be booked by appointment only at her studio located in the historic National Arts Club.

“WHEN I BECAME PREGNANT WITH MY FIRST CHILD, I LONGED to reconnect with my mother and RESIGNED FROM THE WORLD OF LUXURY FASHION. I found that my most vivid memories of her were not the milestone events but the most simple times spent together: how she brushed away my hair while reading me a bedtime story, the songs she sang, or painting on the back porch. Each time I create an artwork, I find her.”
