LAUREN PHELPS

COMMISSION

“Family storytelling is my passion. Through my commissioned work, I strive to create an intimate expression of a moment in time. While lines, colors, and shapes create a likeness, I aim to convey something more unknown, profound, and soulful.”

THE ARTWORK

Traditional oil on Belgian linen, alla prima oil studies on exposed linen, charcoal on paper, and mixed media drawings are all different ways to express your family stories.

These timeless artworks are of heirloom quality and are meant to be passed down for generations. Every detail, from apparel and colors to the appropriate medium and materials, is considered.

If your child's current age is a concern, please remember that the image reference process can begin long before your reservation date, and Lauren will work to capture your desired age without delay.

THE PROCESS

Due to demand, the Oil Portrait waitlist books one or two years in advance, and the Charcoal Portrait waitlist books approximately one year in advance. Sketch openings occur seasonally and sell out in under 24 hours. To be the first to know about waitlist openings, subscribe to our email list here.

1. A reservation deposit is required to secure a position on the waitlist. Artwork details may be decided closer to the commission date.

2. A sitting should be scheduled at our private studio in New York City when possible. If it is impossible to visit us in person, Lauren will collaborate directly with your local photographer to produce the needed imagery.

3. A proposal is sent from the reference images for your approval. One or two updates will be shared with you during the creation process to allow room for reasonable changes at your request. No artwork is delivered without your approval.

“My goal is to tell a story of a special time in a lasting and tangible way. I want to preserve the innocence of childhood and the emotion of a moment.”
